Damo 85 0
yep, prob stuck shut like mine did mate, fairly straight forward fix, might be worth buying a lower temp stat whilst your getting it all sorted
KMG 0
Sorry to be a bit slow on the uptake but what do you mean by a stat. My VR6 seems to have the same problem. The water temp stays normal but the oil goes up to 110deg (it used to run in the 70-80deg range. I've done a oil/filter change but its made no difference. any ideas?
Damo 85 0
if ur water temp is bang on 90 ur stat (thermostat) is prob fine. also how is the car being driven for it to reach 110?? its not mega hot for a vr but if your flooring it, 110 sounds about right. mine runs with water at 90, oil at 94ish, once warmed up and driving normally.. KMG 0
That's the wierd thing, it's just driving normally doing no more than 30-50mph. It normally runs between 70-85 deg max. I changed the oil temp sender today and it's still going up to 100-110 deg. I guess the next thing is a coolant flush. After that i'm all out of ideas.
Damo 85 0
yeh be worth trying a coolant flush as i think an airlock in your coolant system would have the same sort of effect. does seem pretty warm for 30-50mph driving. unless you going everywhere in 2nd gear LOL
gavinvr6 0
as per damo 85. flush the coolant through and bleed it correctly. my water sits at 70'c when driving and 90'c when in traffic. and the oil sits at about 90 around town and 95-98 at motorway speed, the only time my oil gets upto 110'c is when im driving like a twat or if the oil gets low.
