russian bear 0
Hello, I bought an L plate `93 reg Golf Vr6 a few weeks ago of a friends uncle. Car was fine until 1 morning i came to the car and it wouldnt start whatso ever left it a week came back to it it started first time took it out all was well.Next day back to square 1 wouldnt start...me cousin got a code reader from work and it flagged up a duff "Hall sensor" which has now been changed and hey presto it starts and my gawd i thort it were quick before that sensor has made a big difference.Cue new problem, turn ignition whether it be cold warm or hot and nothing. 2nd try after a few seconds of turning over it barks into life. we have had a voltmeter out and we can see that the starter motor is draining power, some one has mentioned a "load reduction relay" is this right? what is this? where is it?Any ideas/help greatfully appreciatedRegards The Bear
SankysVR6 1
So when you turn the key nothing happens apart from the lights on the dashboard coming on, and if you try it couple of times it kicks in to life.Is that right? If it is, i would have a look at the earth strap on the starter motor first. They have a tendency to get week and break.

russian bear 0
Looked at the earth strap on the starter motor and its fine, still same problem starter motor turns over but wont kick into life until 2nd attempt off key.Their is definately a power drain according to the voltmeter when it turns over, it leads me to think about that load reduction relay again as theirs no spark all the time but the coil packs okay??strange
