mark@vagworx 0
Right i need a new rocker cover gasket.Problem being, the Engines an OBD1, but with an OBD2 rocker cover. I've been reliably informed that i need an OBD2 gasket.Went to VW this morning to order one but the parts bod didn't know which one of the two parts on his screen was for which engine variant! Doh.....Anyone know?
acf8181 0
just order one for a '97 car, then it'll deffo be obd2.or do you mean there was to variants even in that year?
VR6Rich 3
Would be interested to know the part number as I have got a new gasket for an OBD1 rocker cover. Just hope its the right one as my luck with the VW parts department is rubbish! The one I have is 021 103 483 B. So if that is right then yours should be the other one, whatever that is! :-)
mark@vagworx 0
Come to think of it, the part numbers differed by the letter at the end......'B' and 'D' i think.....so logic would tell me that 'D' is probably the OBD2 one.......
acf8181 0
i've just checked on etka and its deffo 021 103 483 Di looked at a '97 car. i'm guessing when you went in you said its a '95 car, so thats where the obd changeover was, hence the two part no's. if you look at a '93 car it'll have just the earlier part no.vw parts can't handle it when you ask for stuff that isn't normally found on your year of vr6, so its easier to ask for the year the part came off. usually the safe bet is to ask for '97 for obd2 parts and '93 for obd1.
