dubloke 4
hi everyone, just wondered if anyone on here has changed their own water pump and how difficult it is? my temp gauge is reading very low all the time, and coupled with the hot air not being as hot as i remember it would indicate a dodgy thermostat, no? i have also been told that the water pump may need changing too as the mileage is 106k and they tend to give up the ghost around the 100k mark! any input on this one guys, any info, piccys or advice would be muchly appreciated. %-6[ Edited ]
speedo 0
Really easy. dont panik... You have to remove the rear engine mount (undo), jack engine upwards, remove ribbed belt, remone 3x6mm allen bolt, and remove pump..The reason you jack engine, is the pump wont clear chassis leg. Should`nt take more than 1 hr. (honest Guv!)
VR6Andy 0
What kind of price is a new water pump, and it is worth fitting new at 100K ????????????? :?
dubloke 4
new pump is about £35 and i'd rather change it now than have it lead to head gasket failure or worse! i think mine is because the engine has been stood for a while as i recently blew my 3.1 after 20k miles with the same problem! hence the old 2.8 going back in, and boy is it a difference in power! &|
