mintie 0
i have a 1992 vr6 and have owned it for 7 months and have now clocked 121,000 miles.a recent problem being a bad miss fire and very underpowered with the oil pressure light coming on every now and then. the engine itself has a tapping noise and the sound of a pump whirring. could this be the air flow meter or is this something more technical. UnitedMotorsport 55
Have you checked the oil?
mintie 0
yes oil level is fine. i checked the vr6 manual and it says that its nothing to do with oil level but oil pressure.
FishWick 21
Find someone near you with VAG-COM. Make sure the ECU isn't unhappy before delving into the mechanicals. A dead cam sensor will lose you 30hp and a dead / dying coilpack will cause misfires and lumpy performance.Air flow meter will cause problems aswell if it's knackered..... prepare yourself for a shock for a new one. They're about £300 from VW!VR6 oil pumps are noisy when cold, but should be silent when hot.
