DAZVR6 0
Well i did my oil change on saturday, used a new sump plug and washer, old one was wrecked due to too many speed humps and was leaking, but its still leaking if anything abit worse now.Thing is that when tightening the plug i didn't have a torque wrench although i did have a big wrench which i used to tighten things up.Anyone think the continuing leak is related to the sump plug not being tight enough still or as i think that the sump is damaged cause its been badly scraped especially at the sump plug end and maybe the seal between the sump and the washer is not right due to the scrappage.Best place to buy a good torque wrench..? take it to a garrage and get em to torque up..? buy a new sump..? although if this is the case that won't be happening till next oil change or what else shall i do..? shail 0
I do my own oil changes and always change the sump nut and washer and have never had it leak oil. I dont use a torque wrench, just tighten it with a normal spanner. I'd say that you've a problem with the sump.
VR6 VDF 0
I had the same problem a while ago mate. the problem with mine was that there was a hairline crack somewhere close to the sump plug and the oil was dripping down onto to the plug making me think it was the plug and seal.I changed my sump over and used the same plug and it was sorted. your probably gonna needa new sump, or a cheaper option you could possibly get your sump welded to block up the hole.
