DAZVR6 0 Posted July 24, 2008 Report Share Posted July 24, 2008 Want to do my 1st oil change on my vr as my sump plug is leaking and needs replacing coz its been caught on far to many speed humps, anyway im off to the stealers on friday to get oil, oil filter and a new sump plug and washer. Will i need anything else..? also any tips as ive never changed oil on a car by myself before..? Link to post Share on other sites

craggsy 91 Posted July 24, 2008 Report Share Posted July 24, 2008 5.5litres of oil needed and if you have a TPS near you synta silver is £11.75 for 5 litres inc VAT.Get engine up to temp as oil will flow better but will be hot so let it cool down from full temp. I run mine for about 10 mins or so just so temp flicks to 50. Take out sump plug first and let it drain then try and move whatever your catching oil in so it goes under both sump and filter. Then take small drain screw out of filter housing to empty oil outta that. Then take off housing and replace filter Link to post Share on other sites
dre199 0 Posted July 25, 2008 Report Share Posted July 25, 2008 im also goin to do an oil change and fuel filter change, i have free unlimited access to mobil 1 0w-40 motorsport oil, can anyone tell me will this be ok to change it with? also does anyone have part numbers for a '97 oil filter and fuel filter?
