Smuggler 0
I have a bit of a rattle from the timing chain side of the engine, but sounds like it's either coming from the chain area or the clutch/flywheel area. At first I thought it was chains, but the it goes away when you press the clutch down. You can hear it at idle, and it gets faster as you raise the engine revs too. I did have the gearbox off the engine, but it went back together ok. I haven't tried it in gear yet because the driveshafts are still disconnected, but has anyone heard of or had this problem before?Cheers
SankysVR6 1
Moved your thread to the correct section. It sounds like the thurst bearing in the gear box.
Smuggler 0
Ah yeah sorry about that.Really? Considering it was fine before I removed and refitted it? I know you're supposed to replace them after so long when refitting gearboxes but just seemed strange as it was perfect before, then once installed has gone. Damn, gonna be a pain and a half to take the gearbox out again, have just changed the engine hah. Thanks
Matt W 4
If you press the clutch just a little bit does it go away?If so then it will be more than likely the throw out bearing. if not then could be something else. But the noise doesn't usually change if it is the throw out bearing.
