valarius 0
Hi guys , i am about to start shopping for my VR so i could do with some advice from all you supercharged people, firstly what i have is a 92 obd1 distributer based engine , i am going to be building an engine to go into my vr as opposed to adding bits into so that i can keep her on the road as much as possible so the first question is should i be looking to upgrade to a later engine or keeping to the system that i have ? this is so that i can rebuild it compleatly new chains bearings etc etc whilst it is out the car,my main questions are going to be based around things like adding a new inlet manifold , cams , pistons etc etc etc.so any advice that anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated. the whole car will effectivly be compleatly rebuilt over the next year or so , so please bear with me as there are going to be other questions coming on things like gearbox's LSD etc etc many thanks in advance

Lizard Racing 0
If you want that sort of power then you will need the parts in my signature and very deep pockets to make it reliable. You will need to go coil pack and run stand alone which will make OBD1 or 2 irrelevant, the only differnce will be single or duplex top chain.
rodney 17
Firstly worth becoming a premium member as you'll make savings on the parts you buy/need and second it will allow you access to the guides and discussions on the build process and options...In simplistic terms. If you stay 300bhp or less there are no upgrades. after that you need to start thinking acout lowering the compression and then ARP/forged..... etc etc as is the norm. Intercooler or charge coolers then are on the list and depnding who you buy then they may be included in the package. After that the gear box is good for 350 before any upgrades are neded. that said it's the tourqe that kills so look at the same threads as the turbo guys. Water injection and oil coolers need to be looked at and of course then you need to look at either a remap or stand alone....Finally don't forget you'll need to stop So lots to talk about and there are a lot of links on here and people to help so.... Join up and good luck Drop us all a line once you're aboard and got more questions...
