Devildub_06 0
Not meaning to sound like a plank, but did you change your air filter while you were at changing everything else? Or are you running an induction kit?
blackmagicvr6 0
its the standard air box mate and no i havnt changed it could this be a reson why ?? thanks
Devildub_06 0
Well I have known of engine problems caused by nothing more than a dirty air filer. Might be worth your while just whipping it out to check the condition of it. Also see if there are any air leaks after the MAF sensor.
blackmagicvr6 0
just had a look and the air filter is fine only looks a few weeks old gave it all a clean out and its still running poor its soing my nut in ha
Devildub_06 0
Have you recently filled up with fuel where you wouldn't normally? Give your MAF sensor a clean (or just see if it is mucky). What software did the garage use? And is it OBD1 or
blackmagicvr6 0
i have tried all the above now and still nothing i was thinking could it be the fule pump that would cause this
Devildub_06 0
What software did the garage use? And is it OBD1 or 2. I'm pretty sure owing to posts on here that VAGcom is the only way to ensure error codes are obtained properly, so if your garage is using Sun or Snap on etc, they maybe missing something vital. Just a thought as it's a fair bit cheaper than throwing a fuel pump which you probably don't need into the equation.
Samson 0
Hey Black,There is a list on here of owners that have Vag-Com and are happy to help out those that dont.Search the forums for it or ask one of the mods you can find someone near you and ask them?

Samson 0
There are lots of members here who will do it for free if you ask them. There is a list somewhere on here with the members willing to help others with Vag-Com but cant find it.I have it but live near Slough, west of london, so quite a distance for you to travel. finny 0
Your symptons sounds like mine when I had a Mk2 2.9.You naturally put your foot down for more gas as your going nowhere (engine power not responding) and then.......... whoosh, all of a sudden, the engine kicks into life but then you've got too much gas and accelerating where you don't want to be = brown pants time.My problem was cured by replacing the lambda probe that goes into the cat. Have you tried replcaing the lambda probe?
blackmagicvr6 0
hiys mate i havnt tried that yet may be next on the list to do then how many lamba probes r there for the vr6? and could i just unplug it or remove the cat thanks

blackmagicvr6 0
also how much are lamda sensors and where would be the best place to get one i refuse to go to the vw stealer day light robbery
finny 0
I think it was a simple fit with plug at one end and screwing the new probe in. Can remember connecting/ joining a few wires together (to original cable); not sure if you cut the existing cable and use orginal plug. Parts may have changed by now as mine was done over 10 yrs ago (part brought from G&S)
blackmagicvr6 0
Found the problem its was a wire on the lamba sensor that had broken away with abit of DIY shes back to her self after spending nearly 300 buks it tured out to be just a simple wire sods law... thanks for all your help im over the moon
Devildub_06 0
Lucky you didn't go and order yourself a new fuel pump!! Well done mate
Matt W 4
Just a though but wouldn't a normal OBD scanner not have picked this up a lambda fault?I would imagine VAG-COM would have shown it, surely?Good to hear its fixed too!
Devildub_06 0
Purely guesswork but I suppose it would depend on the Lambda probe itself, if it's a UEGO then a scan would probably pin it down, if it's a HEGO, then it may miss out the heating channel, and this would cause false readings if they're cold, the scan would just check to see if it's measuring.
