CLEG-VR6 0 Posted April 3, 2008 Report Share Posted April 3, 2008 right, ive got a 2.9 throttle body and manifold all luvly and polished. its been hidden under my bed for months 'n' im really desprate to get it on now the weathers better. also a set of leads i paid over 100 squid for from a show last year.just wanting to know really if theres any specialist tools, gaskets or anything im going to need.is there a walk through on the site of how to change the manifoldfor changing the plugs do i need a extra long plug remover or something.sorry if this is stateing the obvious for some of you but i dont want to get half way through the job and find i need something i havnt got..apreciate any help 'n' info you guys can give....thanks Link to post Share on other sites

Roan 0 Posted April 3, 2008 Report Share Posted April 3, 2008 No special tools required, you should be able to re-use the gaskets as they're both steel. Just undo the intake from the TB and the breather pipe etc (take care of the MAF!). Six bolts hold the upper inlet manifold on (a couple can be tricky to get to but you can do it without removing the grille). Get a steel HT lead removal tool from GSF (the stock plastic one is crap) and you'll need a plug removal tool obviously. Link to post Share on other sites

binliner 0 Posted April 3, 2008 Report Share Posted April 3, 2008 You won't need to undo the TB from the manifold as you're changing both... much easier to leave them joined and just undo the plastic air intake hose. you'll need 2 hose clamps to clamp the coolant hoses from the TB. There's more than 6 bolts holding the manifold on (7 at the front, 2 at the back) but they're all the same size allen bolt. You'll also need a spline socket set to undo the plastic covers Link to post Share on other sites
