tomo_tucker 0
hi everybody, this is my first post, i am a student looking to lay my hands on a vr6 golf, i think they are the muts nuts and so much nicer than the tacky french crap all my mates drive about in ( saxos, clios, 106's etc). I am gonna have about 3 grand to spend so obvioulsy not much to work with, but i really want to get something thats gonna last, how bullit proof are the VR6 units? are they prone to serious power loss as the miles pile on? what are the things too look for when buying? most importantly what are they like to own, i read that when you drive with a lead foot the fuel consumption is pretty poor, ( altought i dont really care cos they sound soo sweet!!!) are there any serious problems that are associated with the car? any help would be greatly appreicatedcheerstomo
Roan 0
Welcome! You will be able to pick up a fairly tidy VR6 for that sort of money, go for a highline obviously, anything OBD2 from late 95 onwards. Check out the buyers guide on here, and browse the forums in general and you'll get a good idea of what to look for. Check prices on Pistonheads & Autotrader for comparison, and the For Sale section of the forums. And finally, don't go for the first one you see, it's worth waiting for the right car to come along... tubby 0
Hi there mate and welcome to the site . £3000 budget will get you a sweet vr as prices seem to be quite low just now,as for fuel consumption well ask anyone on here and you will get the same reply " smiles per gallon". It`s the one and only way to describe the best car you will ever own .I have had 2 mk 3 vr6`s and my current is a 4-motion ,but its not the same hence the reason i have just sold it .I should have never got rid of my last one .
