nezzi21 27 Posted January 13, 2008 Report Share Posted January 13, 2008 how much damage can be done to a vr6 engine if its dropped a valve?? reason i ask is iv been offered 1 really cheap because its dropped a valve apparently. im lookin to rebuild it any way as its for my mk2 track car. also whats recommended to replace when rebuilding? will do the chains for sure. cheers in advance Link to post Share on other sites

rodney 17 Posted January 13, 2008 Report Share Posted January 13, 2008 well if it has dropped a valve the minimum is just hole a cylnder. The other extreme is bent cams, depending on where the debris ended up then crank hole in the/ cracked block..... thing is you might be lucky it might not. As you can appreciate all those bits of metal at x thousands rpm soon get into things in that area and can end up with all sorts of problems.... Again tho' if a valve is just bent and you're gonna put 268s in upgrade pistons, port it and turbo it and .... Then as long as the main block is ok then sweet!!!I suppose it depends how much he is asking and if you want to take the chance...MIght be a great deal Link to post Share on other sites
nezzi21 27 Posted January 13, 2008 Author Report Share Posted January 13, 2008 without having the head of it what would you guys recommend i offer for it? tbh im lookin to strip it right down. port and polish the head, new valves, uprated cams, lightened and balanced everything i can. im planning on keeping it n/a ( for now any way) what else would you suggest i do if i buy it?
