Elec window probs after respray

Recommended Posts

Had to take the window seals out for the spraying, but now once fitted the windows wont work properly, as if the finger trap sensor is kicking in and stopping them, I can see where they seem to catch, just by the wing mirrors as the slide into the rubber guide, but no matter what I do the problem is still there and im running out of ideas

anyone else had this problem

Did any of you guys managed to sort this problem out because mines doing it too after a respray...

Drivers window sticking about 6 inches from the bottom when trying to close it, then goes back down like the finger trap kicking in.

Tried using silicone spray in the runners and this worked for a short time, but now its happened again....

Any advice...??

Mine are brand new rubbers which were put in after a respray.

Sometimes its fine, others it happens.

Last time was when the window was full of condensation in the morning - window down then back up to clear it.

The window got to the top of the wing mirror and went back down, but if I just jab at the button a few inches at once it goes up??

Hope its not he motor again - had a nightmare with that.

I'm just scared it'll stop half way - especially as its getting towards winter etc - I park on the street!

Shame there's no manual way to wind the window up if it goes - like a sunroof...

Might just leave it and keep my fingers crossed every time I use it lol. or not use it!

Will keep using the silicone spray/ washing up liquid (works well) and try to lube it!

When the windows goes all the way up do you hear it go tight?

Ive just changed these rubbers over on mine as old ones where rusty, haven't had any problems altho getting the seals to fit properly was a mare so it could be that there not sitting properly

Could it not also be the switch? Does it happen when people use the N/S switch

Changed the switch - just in case, and when the N/S window is operated - thats fine from either switch.

Not sure if I hear it go tight, but it sounds like it always has when it reaches the top, so I guess so.

The only thing I can see with the seals is that the bottom part along the door is just a little higher at one end than the other, so might give it a gentle "coaxing" ;) down a little more, but generally they look as if they're right.

Maybe thats just me being a little picky - doubt that would affect it... Would it???

Been told it could just be that its because they're new rubbers and take time to bed properly and they're a little tighter than the old ones (they were 13 years on the car!), but I can't see that somehow...

Can't see it being the wiring either. :S

Thanx for the advice so far - any further advice will be gratefully received.

Electric windows huh - who invented them! lol

Cheers...
