Guest Leon Needham
Hi, im new to this site. Looks good and i think i will be spending some time on here in the future!I have a starting problem with my 97 VR6 Golf, it turns over for 3-4 seconds before firing up when cold, but if i turn it off then fire up again soon after, it starts straight away.I have changed the temp sensor, and also plugged into a diagnostic unit which didnt find any faults.Any ideas? daleyboyVR6 6
to me that doesnt sound terrible mine takes when cold about 2 secs to start but maybe someone else may have a different opinion................... :-p .........by the way does it try to start before actually firing or just take 3/4 secs to fire? also leave the ignition on for a few seconds before turning over to let the fuel pressure build up, you should hear the pump whirring in the back of the car........ Guest Leon Needham
No it doesnt try to fire, just keeps turning over for a few seconds.
daleyboyVR6 6
im not sure you have a problem, if it does start every time and doesnt stall , it may be just a peculiarity to VW's. Like i said mine does something similar, but ive never thought it was a problem.Obviously its only my opinion but i wouldnt worry, i started mine the other day and it did take 3/4 secs to fire up but when it does it runs fine which is why i havent thought about it too much.................. :-p
amazak 3
I have a the opposite issue,The first time always turns over when the car is started from cold, but if it has been warmed up then always fires up on the second try...and when it does fire up the revs start of very low and builds up to normal??? Was told it could be the ignition switch but does not really bug me so for now I going to overlook it for now.
daleyboyVR6 6
i think every car has its own personality and has different characteristics but it if starts (eventually) and runs fine then thats all that matters its when you know a car and it starts doing something unusuall thats when i would start worrying............................. :-p
