hi mate,

i'm doing the same at present, but unlike you i don't have experience.

i've put the car on stands and will be droping the engine down on a trolley jack.

I will take pics if you want a gander.

i done mine the other day, quite easy really... i removed front bumper, grille, headlamps and front panel.. this way u have full access to everything..

first i removed head(u may not want to)

remove all wiring etc, waterpipes, gear cables... undo drive shaft bolts.

and this point i put a trolley under engine undone engine mount bolts and drop engine/box on to trolley.. then just pull out of engine bay...hope this helps?

thanks for your help guys, so what are you doing to your engines then a rebuilt or just a service or something else, if a rebuild what are you changing and how much for all the parts you got. i'm planning on changing everything on the head and little of bit of the bottom end i will post pictures when i start next week maybe even a few guides

i'm puting in another engine,

current one is a blue smoker.

will i be able to to swap with a passat engine or do they have different heads or anything.

the current engine is a distrabuter type.
