Roan 0
Pulled up outside work this morning and shut the driver's door, only for it to bounce open without catching to lock. Thought I'd hit the lock button on the remote or left the seatbelt hanging over the sill, but no! It seems the locking pin wont move into the lock position and stay there, which has meant me leaving the car outside in the car park basically open & unlocked!! Anyone know if it might just be a quick fix or will I need a new mechanism? Also, the door card is just clipped in, and there's two screws under the inner door handle, right? I might take it off tonight and have a butchers. Gonna be an interesting drive home anyway...
blackmagicvr 7
try opening the handle and flicking the catch back at the same time to engage the catch back into position, might work.
Roan 0
Cheers for the quick reply jon - I tried that though. It seems that whatever clicks the latch shut once you close the door has come loose. No amount of fiddling helps...
Roan 0
Well I got home on Friday and stripped the lock out. There's a tiny yellow plastic clip which holds the latch in the lock position which was broken. There's no way to repair it, so Saturday morning (after a nervous night where I has to disengage the alarm and fashion a new "lock" from picture wire and a G-clamp ) I checked out VAG prices - £79.51 + VAT and three days to deliver! So went up the the scrappy who bodged one off an old CL TDI, and two hours later after a bit of cursing, all was good.
