Guest Ricky
Just bought 4 infinity reference speakers for my new VR6.I took the VW factory speaker out of the driver door and it has 2 same colour wires going into a VW plastic plug. If I cut the plug off how do I know which is positive and which is negative? Do I have to solder them on to the + / - marked contacts on the speaker?Anyone done this before? Any instructions on the web anywhere on how to fit the speakers snug in the door and rear seat panels?Cheers in advance, Ricky.
philbatesvr6 0
its easy to find out if the wires are on the rite way jus play music through them and if the cone moves out with the bass then its on rite but if it goes in its the wrong way round, as for fitting em if they are 6.5 inchers they should go straight in but you will struggle to fit the infinity grills unless you trim the sstandard clips on the doors down
xyber 1
try the wires both ways round, the best sounding is the right way, if the wrong way round they will basically suck bass out of the music. Also if the plugs on the standard kit has diff size terminals the big one is normally postive iirc
craggsy 91
Should have on the back of the speaker a + or - somewhere. might have to look hard
Guest 6DOVES
One of easiest ways to find out is if your deck is out and the wires are plugged in then use a pen light batterry and use the open ends, place them on the + and - respectively if the cone kick out then they are corect if it sucks in switch the plugs around and its then rectified itc called testing the impedence of the speaker...Hope this helps! Guest Ricky
Thanks for the advice y'all.Tried fitting the speakers last night but don't like the fact I can't replace the VW speaker grills and have to use the non-flush inifinity grills.Any one know of some 6.5" speakers that I can use front and back and hide them behind the factory grills?Oh, and anyone wanna buy 4 infinity 6012i speakers, still boxed and unused! ;-)
