Futch 0
Hello all,I have just had an RAC inspection done on a 100k mile 97' Highline VR6 that I am hoping to buy.The engineer just gave me a call, all sounds OK apart from he said the idle was a bit lunpy. There was no cutting out etc, just a bit lumpy. Is this normal for such miles? He also said there was some sill damage from dodgy jacking, and the exhaust joints where messy (it has a Longlife stainless on it!!!) And the rear discs and pads need renewing.Overall though a good report for a 10 year old car!!
Roan 0
An oil & fuel treatment, oil change and perhaps a clean of the throttle body will sort that out I would think.
vr6newcomer 1
that doesnt sound like anything major you couldnt get sorted out mate, depends on how much the car is up for.

matth76 1
100k is not a lot of miles on a VR. Most run to over 200k if well looked after. Shouldn't be much wrong with it at 100k miles - find out if the timing chains have been done (these are similar to a cambelt) - if not you could knock of around 3 to 500 more as it costs £800-1000 to get done and often needs doing around the 100k mile mark (however only needs getting done if you can hear the signs - faint raspy noise behind the usual tappety noise - sometimes they last up to 150k miles)...if it hasn't been done I'd still get more knocked off the price mate.
