What you mean I need my head sorting out? (VR6 '97)

Symptons...

Driving over the past few weeks, noticed a lot of low down chugging and limited power on acceleration. On a cold start up sounded like only four or five cyclinders working.. kept under 3000 until warmed.. more than your average mist coming out of the exhaust..

Checks

Noticed the coolant kept going down pretty quickly, having to top it up each week.

Checked the plugs - no problem,

Checked HT-leads - no problem

Looked at the coil pack, small crack - needs replacing..

Engine on cold start up monitoring cyclinders, four ticking over other two havin a day off...

when the engine warms up, cylinder five kicks in, chugging lessens.. Warm engine, small drive out and back cylinder number six still chillin', in no rush to join the party.. not a nice noise sitting in traffic..

Let the engine cool down and hey ho, out dribbles water from the engine!!! wallet starts running away..

Cause, One gasket has a small crack and is letting in water & coolant on cold start up.. the engine warms up seals the crack and exhaust spits the cr@p out and all is well running on five..

Solution.. Car goes away for three days havin' some TLC, new head... plus new coil pack... bummer, still, be all sorted and sounding good ready for the nice weather... bank manager will call in four days...

On a funny side, my company put this out today.. safe to open and worthwhile!!!
