kalv 0
Been looking into a few options..1. WP PRo kit:: 6-pot calipers, 312mm 2-piece drilled & grooved disks, extras.. £700-£8002. Tarox kit:: 6-pot calipers, 312 single piece groved disk, extras.. £8003. Audi TT setup::312mm discs, calipers, extras.. £400-£500Any thoughts...?
adam_christie 0
For the Bling factor I'd definitely go with the two piece WP Pro Kit (if you can afford it go for the Brembo kit, the 330mm kit costs about £1500 though.........!) However for simplicity and low cost go for the Audi TT setup. The parts will be cheaper, and installation should be miles easier.
kalv 0
The brembo/AP kit is a bit on the pricey side, but must admit will look sweet.. my intention is to go for the WP Pro kit.. it uses existing master cyclinder and can fit behind stock alloys.. only conern is after sale parts... but I think bling rules.. adam_christie 0
The 22mm master cylinder should be ok for even 8-pot brakes. Don't know why VW made them to be honest, makes braking feel spongy as hell!!Have you looked into getting an old porsche brake setup?
kalv 0
Looked at porkers aswell.. seem to be hard to find someone that does them...I know they go stright on a MK4 golf, not sure about MK3..?
poultonjoe 0
http://www.oemparts.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=1074they do a mk4 upgrade kit on this site which will fit 288mm vr6's for £318 i believe. Discs, pads, carriers...not bad i thought.
kalv 0
That isn't that bad... i'm still more inclined to go for the WP Pro kit just for the "bling" factor.. red calipers on a black motor look sweet..
poultonjoe 0
That isn't that bad... i'm still more inclined to go for the WP Pro kit just for the "bling" factor.. red calipers on a black motor look sweet.. The upgrade kit comes with anniversary red calipers...and he can supply 6mm washers and all the needed bolts etc.
apd 0
got the tarox 6pot on my vr-needed,and very impressed.if your running sc/turbo in the future.
LFVR6 0
If you really want to push the boat out try a tar-ox set up.
kalv 0
Any chance of some pics to see what the tarox-6pot setup looks like behind the wheels..?The 312mm upgrade kit is ok with painted calipers, but anyone can paint calipers red... doesn't allways mean you have more stopping power... but if you see some 6-pot monsters glowing red, then it will definately stand out more! rs1800gr4 0
You can also use the TT discs with brembo callipers and carriers.A bit cheaper than a full brembo kit.I'm currently building a kit for my vr6 which contains audi TT drilled discs and a pair of used Porsche Boxster callipers bought for 250gbp.Hopefully with all parts needed the maximum cost will be 500gbp. kalv 0
Aahhh.. the porker calipers will look sweet my friend... how you get them so cheap...?
rs1800gr4 0
I believe just the same but to look real sweet i'll have to paint them red.I'm currently running the TT kit with the callipers painted red and the car looks real sweet. If you are interested i can look and find you a pair of them.I think that brand new here in Greece they cost about 600gbp. I bought mine from a friend who sold his car and took them off. kalv 0
I have managed to find a pair and have them on order (£450 + VAT + Carriage). Can you tell me what else I will need? I only have a standard 288mm setup on my VR6?The person maybe able to supply some more calipers if people are interested... said he will do another set for £400 and same price for more (depening on stock - these are 2nd hand and VAT+Carriage is extra).Ohh... can't wait.. nice red porsche brakes... !!! rs1800gr4 0
You will need a pair of carriers to suit the hub of your car,a pair of aeroquip brake hoses and finally a pair of TT-S3 fronr discs. As i can see from the photos you have audi TT wheels fitted on your car,it's very easy to get the brakes fitted behind them with no problem.p.s What tyre size you have on the 17's? kalv 0
Ok.. few more silly questions.. what are the carriers..? Are they what the calipers connect to?Aeroquip brake hoses... never heard of them.. will BF Goodrige hoses do? Do you know if I can get the hoses of the Porsche and use them? The discs are the easiest peice to source.
rs1800gr4 0
The caliper carrier is th part you need to bolt the caliper o the hub.The goodridge hoses will do the job.As for the porker ones i believe that you can use them but there is a chance that thay won't bolt on the brake line straight and might need to replace the brake pipe. kalv 0
Ok... what about pads... which ones will I need.. i.e which ones will fit in the porsche calipers?
rs1800gr4 0
Depends on the calliper.

kalv 0
Got a picture...312mm drilled and grooved discs, brackets and brake lines for an extra £350 - So I'm looking at around £800 - same price as a tarox setup... Does the bling still win?
rs1800gr4 0
I believe this are better than Tarox so it's ok for me.
kalv 0
OK - I will go ahead with the order... the car is going to cost me £1000 over xmas - brakes, bodywork, cosmetics.. and I still got a few more touches to add until I'm happy..
