How many mark IV R32's were manufactured / imported into the UK?

Hi

I know 5000 mark IV R32's were imported into the USA but how many are officially in the UK? Were they manufactured here or imported?

I think VW made more than originally planned due to demand but i thought the production was only meant to be 5000 worldwide? or for the UK? i know they only made 41 grey and about 40 in red for uk, they were definately made for the UK market,originally the colours were only going to be Black Blue and Silver, but added Grey, Red and indigo blue later, i suppose they are a bit like the old Mk2 Rallye golfs, 70 or so were sold through dealerships in the UK although still in LHD spec

I'm think I read recently, can't remember where otherwise I'd check, that the UK had more then the States and Germany combined with around 14,000. Which does seem alot to me compared to the number of VRs they sold in twice as long. I wish I could remember the site so I can blame someone else if it's wrong.

For sure they'd have been imported, VW doesn't have a UK factory.

Found the link. I was wrong. 14000 is the rough number of total worldwide sales. And the UK > US + DE was just pure fantasy.
