matth76 1
Sounds like your car is overfuelling a lot if it is popping a lot. Best get the cam sensor replaced as that will not be a good thing and can cause you to loose up to 30bhp. Was your car ok before going to the body shop??
mk3anni 0
The cam sensor tells the ECU where the cam is in its rotation. The car is popping not because its over fuelling but because the ECU is confused and the timing is out by a country mile.Clean it, if that doesnt sort it replace it.
Luke 0
Yea i had the same with mine mate, cam sensor faulty on vag com, try cleaning it like mk3anni said & see how it goes! I got a used one off another vr lump that was hanging around at the phirm, very easy to change & makes the world of difference in reguards to restoring performance etc... flexin 0
ok i have chaged it out for a new one and it has made a diffrence but hasn't completely cured the problem.one question i have is do i have to reset the ecu before it restores timing if so i'll try that.it now sounds like one of the cylinders isn't firing.so my question is that if the car has sat for a while could the coilpack have gone. it can't be the leads as they are new sames as the plugs.any help at this stage would be goodthanksjohni fogot to say that i can smell petrol in the exhaust
mk3anni 0
Nope no reset should be needed.
