Andy Mac 1
I am being really lazy as I sure that there are many a post about this subject, but what is the cheapest, easiest and best way of getting a 96 Golf VR6 OBD2 car to near enough break the 200bhp barrier? dstyrrell 0
Induction kit, exhaust.and re- map.Same as any other NA car. The next step Supercharger which should give you around 40% more power.

binliner 0
why 200bhp? standard VR6s can make 190bhp+ and the differemce an induction kit, exhaust & remap (which could cost around £800) makes will be barely noticeable
antera309 3
This topic is covered extensively in these forums. Do a search and you'll get a lot more information than you will in this thread. For a really noticable difference on a standard VR, you need to do an induction kit, 268-degree high-lift cams, exhaust with decat pipe, then get remapped for the lot. This setup will give you at least 210BHP with a corresponding hike in torque. If you want more power than this, you should be looking at supercharger kits..
GVK 1
Does an OBD2 *really* need a remap tho? obd 1 yeah, that can gain 10-15 bhp...
matth76 1
If you have cams yes. Anything less no. As you imply, a remap or chip on a lightly modded OBD2 makes absolutely no difference in power, however if you have cams or more extensive mods it is definitely required as the fuelling is drastically altered. r32vr6 0
Have you had you car on the rolling road already ?As a few cars on obd 2 with a cat bypass make 200bhp and some extra advance ign timing after maximum torque ie between 4700rpm-6500rpm.
