matth76 1
HiRecently my steering has become a bit vague...its not noisy at all. But when going over bumps the steering wheel tends to try to move, so I have to hold it slightly tighter. Also when going round some corners it doesn't feel right so much so that I don't have the confidence to go at the same speed through corners I used to - I originally thought it was tramlining but its definitely not this... There's a bit of play in the steering before the car changes direction. Its not too bad... as said no noise at all, but just not how it used to be. I have had the car lowered at beginning of year but everything was fine after having this done - had all the wheel alignment done etc. What could cause this - could it be loose tie rod ends or faulty ball joints? I don't think its the rack itself as the play isn't huge and there is no noise at all.I've got standard 15" bbs wheels. Thanks for any help.

dellert 0
Put your key in the Barrel and turn the ignition on and dont start the car. Then get out and grab a wheel at 3 and 9 o`clock and try to turn the steering back and forth at the wheel, if there is play in the steering you will hear a quiet knocking noise as you wiggle it. Trace the noise and trace your fault!
