matth76 1
You should see around 180 up to 190bhp if you have an enlarged throttle body and air filter. Yours is OBD1 so will also benefit from a remap (£300 from Stealth)...much better than a chip and same price too. How much is your rr session costing you? Stealth aren't too far from you and are the best in the UK when it comes to remapping for a VR (everyone on here will recommend them highly) ... their full rolling road session is £50 too which is far cheaper than some of my local rr's. Vince will also talk at length about what mods you can do specifically for your motor and what mods are pointless. The torque (lb/ft) on average will be around 10 less than the bhp figure on a lightly modded vr although not always.
snares123 0
cheers matt.its 55 plus vat, so quite a bit more!!im planning on fitting some 268 cams and getting a map, will prob take a look at steath if are as good as you say.want make sure shes running the best she can before starting to mod heavy tho as dont wanna be dissapointed with results after spending all that money, thats what this run is for really.do you loose any torque when the cams are fitted or does the map sort that out.what you got on your car matt, 207 is a good figure? matth76 1
Hi mate, Sorry Stealth is £50 plus vat too, so sounds like your local rr is virtually the same price. But Stealth do specialise in everything to do with VR's VW's etc. They are the best when it comes to VR mapping. However I'm sure your local one is good too for a rolling road session. My mods are cat back Milltek exhaust, high flow cat, BMC air filter, s/s 6 branch exhaust manifold, and Eurospec 268 cams, plus Stealth's remap. You lose a very slight low down torque but that is common with all 268 cams, although it is very hardly noticable, with more power above 3k revs. If I was going to do all my modding again, I would leave out my s/s 6 branch as they are prone to blowing (mine has a slight blow in it) and you get very little increase in power.. and probably go for a decat instead of high flow cat, not because a decat gets more power (they get about the same) but the cost of the high flow cat is quite a lot, esp when a decat is a third the price. One thing you will find is when you add one mod on its own it won't get much of an increase in power but when you have a combination of mods they all work well together and its then you start getting nice gains.268 cams are a good mod... with a remap and your enlarged t.body you should see around 15-20bhp maybe more, on your OBD1 car. Good luck with your mods
