  1. I'm selling my N plate 5 door VR6, with working climacool and sunroof, and 17" TSW alloys (more on this later) and it needs to go before next Sunday (the 3rd) as I am moving to Germany for work, and my ex has decided she no longer wants to keep it.  I have owned it for nearly 3 years and replaced a lot of parts, however it didn't have much history between 2011 and when I picked it up, but it has lots of stamps in the service book until then.  It has definitely had the chains done at some point however, it's not rattly in the slightest.  It does have a few minor issues which I will state here as I want to be honest and it needs to go ASAP:

    • The ex went over a pothole last week so the drivers side front wheel is cracked, and will need replacing.  I didn't know this until I went to have the tyre replaced (as it's flat) this week, so it is on a spacesaver.
    • Both rear windows not working, n/s is off the runner, o/s needs a new motor (which will come with the car, it's sat in the boot)
    • Baffles have gone in the exhaust, only replaced (with a second hand oe one) last year so have just left it so far
    • Bodywork is overall ok but could do with a a new front bumper or a spray, and a few touchups (spot of rust underneath the passenger rear light)

However the engine is absolutely great, pulls well through all the gears, and has done approx 123k miles, and only about 10k miles in the past 5 years. The MOT is due in July but it flew through the last one without any advisories.

I have replaced lots of parts in the last few years and have receipts for all, including:

    • both wishbones, drop links and ARB
    • Top mounts & suspension (low mileage 2nd hand)
    • Battery
    • Radiator
    • Exhaust (although now needs doing again as mentioned)
    • coilpack
    • Discs & Pads
    • Tyres

Album is here: Imgur Link - More pictures available on request.

I was going to ask for £1k before the wheel cracked, so now I would like £800 for it.  I'm based in London, N5 and work from home so can meet anytime this week.

  2. So yesterday I started having issues selecting first and second, managed to fight through it, and this morning I can't get it into reverse.  In face, first and second are where reverse should be - i.e. pushing down on the stick and going left.

There's another topic in here which shows a video of the adjustment process, but there's not the spring loaded holders on the cables that there in that video...

Can someone point me in the right direction of the right part to adjust?

  3. My car needs a fair bit doing pre-MOT and after selling my Corrado a few years back I sold most of my tools.  I was wondering if anyone on here was around London, had tools and some ramps and would be willing to give me a hand to do the work (or do the work, with me getting in the way ;) )?

There's a fair bit which needs to be done:

    Wishbones

    Drop links

    Driveshaft gaitor

    Exhaust needs to be replaced

potentially top mounts and rear caliper

Obviously I would pay in money / beer / tea / kind / all of the above for the help.

  4. I was going to stick these up in the Suspension forum but seems a bit dead.  I've just picked a cheap (ish) VR as a runaround, standard bar wheels (5 door and a towbar :S) that will need a couple of bits doing to it in the near future (MOT in May).

It needs both wishbones replacing (previous owner replaced them with cheap ones so needs doing again) and having done some reading, instead of using polybushes it seems the R32 bushes are the way to go.  However, can I use the entire arms from an R32 and will they be a direct replacement?

It also needs some top mounts - are the poly ones of these recommended?  I used standard ones on my Corrado G60 which seemed fine.

The previous owner had fitted some alloys to it whilst the brake pads were low and they're the wrong offset, so therefore the garage put some 5mm spacers on and recommended longer wheel bolts.  Do I therefore need 45mm bolts or should the standard ones be ok?

Other than that it just needs some ARB links (I assume OEM is fine for these) and a bit of welding on the exhaust (will get a used aftermarket one).

Cheers in advance for the advice....there will be a post in tyhe wanted section for a few bits I need too ;)
