The Surgeon, Wayne,
Thank you for your advice, you absolute sweeties.
Garage are going to try and fix it again, if it doesn't work I am going to drive it over a cliff.

To Whomever Can Assist,
Could you provide me with some advice, as to what I should do with my car?
After a trip to my thoroughly reliable garage, chaps told me that despite being able to fix a 'secondary pan gasket' - it looked, in all likelihood, that I would need a new gearbox at some stage. The car drives marginally better after the replacement of this gasket, but I fear a slow decline back into poor health.
I was given the details of a specialist who said that it would cost ~£1,200 to rebuild. I cannot feed my family this month.
Could I ask your advice?
1) Once I've raised this money by giving a few dozen 'cross hand boogies' to other fallen gentlemen who have become victim of circumstance, should I spend my earnings remedying the gearbox?
2) If so, any garages, or individuals, that specialise in automatic VR6 gearboxes in the North London/Essex area that you could recommend?
I appreciate any response, and understand if you are currently reading this sentence thinking 'fuck him, I am not helping.'
Should you be able to advise, I bow to your greater wisdom and thank you for your help.
A.

Very nice design - thanks!

Whether the biofuel content goes up by 10% or not, the cost of petrol will make my car undrivable very soon.

Chaps,
Anyone have a VR6 Highline? I've noticed that everytime I pull away, the car jolts. It is as if I were driving a manual and I had released the clutch too quickly. The problem is most exaggerated when the car is driven from cold, but if I am in it for half an hour it can still happen.
A second problem, is the sense that the car is ever so slightly 'in handbrake'. I notice a slight creaking in the rear axle, asif the car momentarily resists being moved, when I reverse into car parking spaces. The handbrake light is not on, and the handbrake itself is fully depressed. Is it an issue with the brakes?
I tell you what though, this car is fucking good fun -- I was not much of a 'petrolhead' until I started blasting it around the A406.
In anticipation,
Al.

Woodford.
There is a VW specialist on the high road, I'll see if he can get it fixed for me tomorrow morning. Any ideas of how much it would cost to repair Hvr6?
-
Thank you ever so much Hvr6.
I'll read it all, and since I have no tools or talent, I'll then take it to the garage.
Lots of love,
Al.

Ha ha!
Day 4 and the driver's side electric window won't close. I returned from the shops tried to close them, there was a clunk and then... nothing. The motor is whirring but the glass won't budge. To make matters worse, the door won't open! Common problem? Any ideas of the cost to fix?
Please help,
*sob*

I may be completely blind but I've looked the threads for chris knott insurance but can't seem to find the reference number???
Any1 help?
Hi Dazzr' date=' (s)
I telephoned Chris Knott this morning, with [i']exactly the same query. Reading a post by 'ChrisKnott' that I am sure you too had seen, I mentioned this to a lovely sales representative, who took my word for it.
From their sheer, overwhelming presence on this forum, I am sure Chris Knott are the most competitive insurance company for VR6 owners, but my enquiries this morning revealed that they want to insure those with at least one year's NCB. I have no NCB. Nevertheless they said they could quote me a figure 'well in excess of £1500'. I'd rather walk.
Then, I telephoned Sky Insurance who quoted me £600. This was more than £250 better than the nearest quotation I had received through gocompare. Sky told me that the three years of NCB under my partner's policy was taken into account. I am a 31 year with no driving convictions or claims in the past five years.
Keep looking and don't rush into anything. Best of luck, old boy...

its called backbox mate
Daverse, Lukey,
Thank you so much for that information - even a d-head like I could understand. 'Back box', eh? Daverse, really appreciate the link to your back box. Let me do a bit of reading and I shall get back to you if I am interested.

Nero,
Sorry about the delay in getting back to you. Appreciate the offer old boy; however, I couldn't get your link to open.
Garage has advised me to convert from auto to manual as in theory it could be half the cost. Undecided until I have some cash to do it. The plot thickens!
