  1. Ive had a look and the pipes on and doesnt seem to be cracked, as far as I can tell the servos fine aswell. The pedal does push up a little bit when you first press it as if its resting when the engines off?? Rcf yeah discs and pads where done properly mate only thing that wasnt done was the abs purge but it turns out I cant do that without vag.com, have only got snap on diagnostics and they dont have that option. Gearbox is being replaced next weekend so i'l give it a nice long run and see if they improve, has only been 30 miles since they have been replaced so they arent bedded yet. I just dont see that making the pedal feel better but we will see, thanks for your comments guys.

  2. Lukey B thanks for the reply mate, I didnt upgrade the brakes they where allready done but it seems everything about this car has been bodged and since ive replaced the discs and pads I never purged the abs pump so i'm 99% sure youve cracked it for me mate. The gearbox blew up the other day so will be a couple weeks before I can try but my mate has the latest Snap on diagnostics machine and it does comunicate with my golf so hopefully it will have the option to purge the pump and i can get this sorted. Thanks again mate

  3. My 92 vr has been converted to 288mm but the braking seems extremely poor for a performance car, ive never driven any other vr6 so have nothing to compare to but I would say the brakes are no better than my heap of a mondeo of the same age. Bearing in mind the golfs brakes are bigger and it has discs all round I assume I have a problem? I have changed discs pads and fluid all round with no improvement at all, the pedal doesnt go to the floor so probly not master cylinder. Could it be the rear compensating valve? and if so is there any way of checking? Maybe im just being fussy but the vr's brakes are nowhere near as good as any other car ive had with discs all round has anyone else noticed this?

  4. Hello guys, new to the forum and new to VW in general. Ive recently bought a K reg VR6 with 114000 miles on the clock, is it usual for it to burble and pop on the overun and when changing gears at high revs?. It has a piper cone filter and stainless system and is sposed to be superchipped but I have no way of telling wether this is true or not? Would be handy if anyone could tell me a way of finding out wether its chipped, it does have a small exhaust blow at the flexi so im thinking this might be the cause?

The tailpipe is sooty and the car allways smells of fuel especially when cold, havent had a chance to look at the plugs yet. Also I get an occasional cloud of blue smoke usually when driving sensibly after ive been giving it a pasting. Ive been told that the engine could be breathing heavy and that when I give it a caining its blowing oil into the top end causing the blue smoke, would be nice to know if theres a cure for this or wether its something more serious. Thanks in advance.
