  1. I think I have fitted them correctly, I have poly top mounts which I fitted bearing, top mount then nut. Is that the correct way? Thanks
  2. I painted my manifold and plastic cover with Montana Gold spray paint and it turned out really well (and you can get in amazing colours!)
  3. Alright Guy's Still having this problem! Mattvr6 did the top mounts help? I have replaced the ball joints and drop links. I have also put the helper springs at the bottom and a washer between the top mount and bearing which has seem to fix one side but the passenger side is still very noisy It's driving me nuts so filmed the noise it's making to see if anyone could shed some light on the situation? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JrSi0HWP7p0&feature=youtu.be Thanks
  4. I fitted them bearing poly top mount then nut. Not 100% sure if this is right but the bearing seemed to fit nicely in the top mount so just went with it. Seems ok.
  5. Ok got my car started turns out the starter motor had packed in! Anyway I got my poly top mounts fitted and they make the handling and ride of the car 10 times better and my knocks have gone but I still get a lot of what I think is spring noise when slow driving and corrnering, Has anyone had this before? The weitecs have the helper spring at the top, is this right? It's the way they came but I always thought the helper went to the bottom, could this be causing my spring noise? So all in all I do like the poly top mounts and would recommend them.
  6. No I don't think they come with bearings, so I have ordered so Febi bearing which from what I can tell from my googling they are meant to be good quality? Anyone tried theses? I will put up my feedback once I have got them on, that's after I get my car started! Just decided not to start today think its the alarm and wires are voodoo to me lol
  7. I ordered up a set of powerflex poly top mounts (you can get them from awesome GTI or psi tuning where I got them from because they had them in stock) I will let all you nice folks know how they are when they arrive .
  8. Hi mattvr6, Yeah it is a mk3 I drive, did the mk2 mounts stop all the noise? I think powerflex make poly top mounts for the mk3 which I'm tempted to try. Has anyone tried these before? Thanks
  9. Hi Guys, I have been on google for weeks now trying to find a fix for my problem with knocking and just really noisy top mounts. I have replaced my top mounts and bearings (greased them before fitting) and still the same problem had a look at my bearings today and them seem to be wrecked already been in only a week. Now I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, the first time i fitted them I pressed the bearing into the top mount then nut gunned the nut on over the top of the bearing and top mount. I have seen a guide on here where it looks like I should have fitted the bearing then the nut w
  10. Hi DaveyB76 Thanks for the reply and sorry I should have said in my last post that the abs light connection is pluged in and the brown connetor is the headlight switches which leaves me with the red connetor *-)
  11. Hi Guys, Pic of the random connector that is puzzling me Any ideas? Thanks
  12. Hi vr6pete I will take pic later and post of random connector Will the power for my central locking connect into the rear lights? I have a connection that I had to leave out my rear lights because it was causing my drivers side indicator stay on its a yellow connector I think. Thanks
  13. Alright guys Thanks for the advice got there in the end just a bit of shouting and swearing and persistence.
  14. Hi guys, Need some more help (I should be a vr6 pro the amount of amazing advice you good people give me!) I have put my vr back on the road after dealing with her rust in the process I did remove the interior which set me alarm problems which I think I have fixed but now my central locking doesn't work (I wouldn't mind to much but can't lock my boot with the key) is the central locking done thought the alarm? Also when putting back together I have a red connection with 3 wires coming off it behind the headlight switches on my dash which for the life of me can't find where to plug in anyone k
