    Hi all this is my 154,000 mile 5 door purple violet Highline!.owned for a couple of months now,i'm 4th owner and have service history, all books, inc factory fitted Scorpion Full closure alarm... has usual chain rattle and rust in cills, but has had a reasonable spray job at some point so looks good inc a nice set of 17 inch RS4 replicas..(need a spare rim if anyone can help?)!..air con and electrics all work and just replaced drivers seat base foam due to usual bolster wear, this is my third VR6, last two were earlier OBD1 cars 1992 and 1994 both in tornado red! I love VR's but i'm wrestling

    Been reading a bit more about the chains and tensioners from other forums , some other posts suggest just changing the upper guide rail (dont need to remove gearbox) and re-oiling the sping loaded tensioner bolt? I'm really wondering wether it's worth spending such a big chunk of money on a high milage (154,000) engine. and the fact that i have quite bad rust in the front end of the cills at jacking point/floor that will need welding, does it become just another breaker when the mot runs out next april? any advice ideas greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for all the advice guys ..had a listen definately RHS and definately chains..as well as hydraulic lifters methinks! how easy a DIY job are the chains and tensioners to do?..does the engine have to be out?

    Hi all need some advice, my 1998 VR6 Highline has afew strange noises and i want to try and sort them out, bearing in mind that the engine has done 154,000!, i do expect some noise. first is it's very 'tapety' until engine is fully warm (about 5 minutes and halfway on the gauge), when it goes off which i guess is just heavy wear on the tapets unitl the oil and steel has warmed up?? secondly there is a 'gravelly noise which is always constant hot or cold, i dont think its the surpentine belt tensioner, no whine, so i'm guessing chains / tensioners - 'gulp'!..it runs perfectly otherwise good pul

    IT WORKED!! changing the motor cured the problem..also my loom had chafed against the door which i guess had effected the original motors operation?..even though it still worked perhaps something else had gone internally? anyway real happy cheers!

    Hi you could try my technique use touch up paint to fill in scratch, polish off any excess carefully with t-cut, then degrease with panel wipe and repeat if necessary until scratch is filled and almost invisible, works well for me! make sure touch up paint is a good match, my loacal body shop mixed up a pot for me from paint code and its almost a perfect match, better than the halfords ones and cheaper at £4.99 for a good sized pot with brush included! good luck!

    Hi might be the answer...sort of!...i have a five door and all windows work but when i open as normal, but when using the alarm fob all shut except one rear and the sunroof?! I know that some time ago when the sunroof was closing with the alarm, that same back window didn't work, motor 'appeared' to be jammed...just made a weak buzzing sound when window button was pressed which i put down to a faulty motor, bought motor, about to replace it and then rear window came back to life!...but now this problem has occured. Could it be an intermitently working rear window motor causing the problem?, a

    Hi can anyone help? My highline has a Scorpion total closure alarm fitted, which until a few days ago use to close all the windows and sunroof when locking the car with one press as it should. Now the windows still close but the sunroof remains open!?...any ideas?..just a glitch/failure in the control unit?..last time i check the wiring it was fine? Help!...a bit frustrating! cheers

    After oild change this weekend th plastic oil filter appears to have sprung a leak from the top edge...new one ordered from dealer, original is well bashed about by previous owners!! just wondered wether i could change it without dropping all my oil?, is it possible? cheers

    Hi can anyone help? my healight kights left on buzzer is not working, interior light switch is ok on drivers door, even tried changing number 36 relay for a known good one! still no go..any ideas? cheers
