  1. hi, my vr6 is loosing about 2ltrs of water a day with no obvious leeks, the engine runs but after about 20mins of driving, it over heats way steam cumming out the water bottle, i have flushed the system out and there was no blockages or that, i have spoke to a few people, one has mentioned that my head gasket could be gone, there is no oil mixing with the water but if it has split near the pistons, the water is slowly leaking into the cylinders and evaporating, should i not see a big drop in performance if this happens?? Thanks
  2. POSTING ON BEHALF OF HENDY TO TRY AND SAVE THE VR6!!! So, hes have had the golf vr6 for about 4 months now, and everything was going fine. I have a few questions. There's something really wrong with the water temperature, its overheating. the temperature dial still shows everything is ok tho, it will start cold and come up to half at a normal rate but if we get under the bonnet theres steam shooting out from the water bottle and usully a pool of water on the floor. Is there anything you's can point us to look at? me and our other mate can get to work on it but really dont have experience with
  3. Mainly after longer jouneys 30-40 mins theres major water escaping from underneath the engine. There is also mass amounts of steam coming from the header tank and regularly have to keep the water topped up. The temp gauge is giving a normal reading and as far as i know its working fine....fans come on from time to time so thermostat is working. Could this possibly be a blockage?
  4. Can you get a 6-speed gearbox that will fit a VR6? If so, is it a bolt on job or does any fabrication need done? cheerz
