Thanks for the info guys, I better take it to a garage in Shrewsbury and let them have a look. its not the whinning noise from behind the rev counter thats the problem, its the banging / clunking noise thats worrying me when you fire the car up from cold. all in all after a week of owning the car i love it, ive owned wrxs and type Rs but this car is something else. next time i post i hope to be sticking a turbo on it so any advice on which one to get would be good

Hi All i have had my Golf VR6 a week now and i have a few niggly bits i want to try and clear up. First of all when you rev the car there is a whining sound that sonds like its coming from behind the dash, its not loud at all, but when you change gear and the revs drop you can hear it any help what it could be? Second , when i first fire the car up, it makes a hissing /banging noise. it only lasts a second or two before it goes away? when i bought the car the guy told me that it has a tapping noise on start up , but this sounds like more than a tap to me. apparently he has had it looked at and
