thanks for the reply i am sure that is what it is. can i just connect a piece of rubber hose from the break in the pipe to the inlet manifold or does the pipe have to be plastic?

the one end of this black plastic breather pipe disappears into the car near the pedals, the other end is connected to the cylinder head just infront of the coilpack can anyone identify and advise what it does as it snapped in two when i moved it to gain access to a coolant hose
