    Yup downpipe was blowing but could be manifold related. Now somethings gone badly though, the rattle is continuous and the engine is like a 0.5l VR6 lol no power, 60mph top speed I could get on the way home when it went. Gonna have to wait for a long time now to fix it though I'm off to uni in a couple of days so she'll just be sitting gathering dust

    A while ago i started up my vr and heard a loud thud that seemed to be sort of around my feet area. The car sounded fine and performed as normal for around 500 miles. Then, last night it happened again and this caused a loud tinny rattle from the engine bay that is worst at idle and disappears as the engine roar kicks in around 2000 revs. Then this morning there was a loud knock again and the noise got louder and then stopped. At no point did i notice much difference in the cars engine pull, it was maybe even a little smoother and quieter after the knocking noise. Any ideas could it be a pump

    After some new wheels. 17" 5x100 width 7.5J. Offset ET35 or ET45. Will ET35 fit a mk3 '94 VR? Standard car height.

    Thinking of replacing the standard 15" BBS alloys on my '94 VR with 17" or 18" alloys. Probs gonna get Audi RS6 style or the new golf GTi style, any thoughts or ideas? Does any1 have any pics of VRs with these on? My car isnt lowered at all but im leaning to 17s rather thn 18s

    Rite I've just come back from a week away and the battery is most definitely knackered. No electricals work, no central locking or alarm and defo no hope of her starting. Gonna have to get a new battery and work from there. Hopefully its just the battery that was causing the malfunctions but I dunno. Cheers 4 all who've helped.

    You could well be right actually, when I startup now it sort of struggles but its not like the engine is struggling, it still goes pretty fast. Engine bay smells of sulphur - thought it was the Cat but it could well be the battery. Altho most of the electrics still operate fine it seems to just be the dash and the startup sort of???

    The dash on my '94 VR6 keeps going off randomly. It makes like a ticking noise when it goes off, and it always comes back on while using something else electrical like a window, or an indicator, any ideas what might be causing it. It might be shorting out, I dont know :S

    Hmm might get her serviced fully, the electrics are abit dodgy too lmao! Whats most likely to cause this smell? Am I right in thinking its the Cat?

    I've got a standard '94 VR that I just bought at the start of this month. Got her home, went to check the oil just using the dipstick and after removing the dipstick and wiping and replacing and removing again there showed no oil whatsoever on the dipstick :S. So I bought 4 litres of oil and added it in half litre bursts to the oil tank. I let this drain through and retried the dipstick and still no trace of oil. Only when I started the engine did the oil splash up to a very high level on the dipstick, when wiped and replaced when off the oil still did not mark the dipstick. I added nearly 2 l
