    I'm pretty sure I wouldn't attempt this myself, I have some mechanic friends that I could probably coerce into helping me and/or doing it for me. But a couple of non-mechanic friends that I talked to were really squeamish, telling me that rebuilding a VR6 isn't worth the money. I love my car, and I don't want to replace it. I might have no choice, since the other issue at hand is that fender-bender I was involved in. The other guy's insurance might write my car off and pay me out for it. We'll see what happens.

    Hey guys. I'm new here, sorry if there's a thread, I did a little bit of searching but didn't really find what I was looking for. I have a '95 Jetta VR6. 210,000 kms. Chains are alive, but definitely should be changed. I planned on doing them this weekend, in fact. However, did a compression test (dry) and came up with some unhappy numbers. 1: 155 3: 130 5:120 2: 140 4: 120 6: 85 Going to do a wet test tomorrow, which should give me some more insight into my problem. But my question really is : Who has rebuilt their VR6, and would they do it again? If it's just a head issue, who has de
