  1. Never seen any sparks but it was still daylight. I did think it may be the coil pack, but the thing that got me was when I disconnected the battery and re-conected it the car would start ok. If there was a crack in the coil pack would it not constantly buzz and cause the starting problem? Was thinking of getting a VAG cable from ebay, are these any good? thanks for the reply
  2. Had the car a few months and it's been running fine until tonight. When I tried to start the car it would turn over then die unless I kept my foot on the gas, but would die as soon as I took it off. Took a quick look under the bonnet and could hear a buzzing noise from the right hand side on the engine, sounded electrical. Dissconected the battery and it stopped, connected the battery and the car started again no problems. Drove it home and checked under the bonnet again and the noise had returned. Think the last owner had a similar problem with the crackshaft sensor but this was replaced
