[4motiongear problem HELP]

went to buy a 4motion bora 2001 reg,took it for a drive and couldent engage the 5th gear,just wouldent av it the owner goes to me its JUST a linkage,is this true?asked a mate he told me that its a cable change box and that the problem lies within the gearbox(BIG JOB)is this true ? please i could do with some pro knowledge,help me fellas plz...............cheers

hi guys,could anybody tell me wats up with this 4motion i went to purchase,took it for a drive and could not engage the 5th gear,the owner told me its the gear linkage but icant find the linkage someone told me its a cable change g/box??????? and they dont have a linkage????????im confused,somebody help me need advice.i also had a look underneath the car and it looks like it been scraped,wat cud it be........its a bora 4motion 2001 reg with 74k on the clock.all advice will be much appreciated thanks

wouldent i be losing any water? cheers jez how much do u think it shud cost and know a decent mechanic in sheff mate wiv vr no how?is that nick tompson any good in hillsborough(used to work at gilders b/cross bin told) saw u by the way yesturday drivin down london rd i was on da opposite side,blue vr n reg,tidy motor u got jez........

hi guys cud someone give me sum helpful advice.i own an reg vr6 golf with a.c not c/c,problem is im not gettin any warm air from the heaters,the car does not over heat, does not loose water and even checked the water/oil for head gasket failure,the fan kicks in when it should,and winters round the corner and i dont want to freeze me nuts off.......a mate of mine told me its possible the heater switch unit in dash might be buggered(the one u turn for hot or cold)is that poss?is it also poss it cud be the head gasket(hope not) all advice appreciated guys thanks :-(
