theres a auto sat in a scrap yard south of bath, looks very tidy too

what a week, didn't get it in for a mot till thursday where it was highlighted to me the true amount of rust in the floor of this thing!
new inner and outer sill on drivers side and inner sill on pasangers side plus nearly all the drain hold are bad.
So today i have removed the interia again , front bumper and drivers wing, removed all the side skirts and all the wax oil off the underside.
am now ready to hit it with the grinder ;(

didnt make it to the monday mot or the tuesday one ether but its now ready so its in first thing today.

iv not been on hear for some time after selling my mk3 golf vr6 and needing a bigger car with the 3rd kid on the way..
after owning some other 'family' cars me and the wife realised we were kidding areselfs so the hunt started for another vr.
this is my old one
I found this on pistonheads with a very poor rightup but i had a hunch so went to have and had a look
93k miles, climate control, alarm, full stainless lowered 40mm and a full service history.
taking delivery
strip down and a clean up
fag ash everywhere so carpets out for a good scrub up
oh no!!!! but no worry il have that sorted tomorrow!
old wheels but there all knackerd
temp wheels untill i make my mind up on new one's
new brakes all round ( see the air!)
and needs a bit of paint
So tomorrow a bit of welding to do and finnish of the brakes, mot on monday morning!
cant wait!!!!!

what sort of vag com are you lot using?
its just im using a mates code reader and all the info it gives me is the code....so how do i know if its short to ground or others????
Iv asked a mate that works in a MOT center and he's bringing home the Snap-on lap top code reader thing so hope it can explain a little more.

well fck knows what it is!
iv tested the wires to the lambda......all good
took the inlet ,tb and all the pipework off last night
gave it a good clean and put it all back togeather......STILL getting the 2 codes pop up.
not sure what to do next......got a mate with a snap-on dio kit so give that a go.

My daughter is 4 and knows all the main parts of an engine bay' date=' tells me to put my foot down and to have 2 hands on the stearing wheel at all times...my son is 2 and plays with pushchairs :-|

But no bother as were expecting are 3rd in november, we know its a boy(just like his dad :-p ) the go-kart saving fund is up and running.

Is there a gasket for the inlet manifold?
My inlet has been on and off that engine more times then i care to remember
il but my money on it being there but whats the best way to sort it? with instant gasket or a relacment one?

So im gonna take the TB off at the weekend and give it a clean but is it true i shouldn't use carb cleaner??
Also degreece all the little breather pipes that are on and around that area.

done all that mate still no joy
I am getting another code now 533 with means i have a air leak on the inlet.....
so when it stops raining im tacking it all off and cleaning it up.

was it or is it still satin silver?
My mates got one in satin silver, is an awsome colour but his too has bad rust on all arches.
I like your thinking with keeping it origanal and not deleting everything.........10/10!

My vr keeps failing the emissions test so got it on vagcom (autoscanner) and keeps bringing up 000525 lambda censor,
So replaced the lambda with a Bosch one and whilst i was at it changed the spark plugs, oil and filter.
stuck it back in for the MOT and it failed again. Vag com says 000525 again and if i clear it it will pop up again after a 5 min drive.
So what else can i try or do?

I fitted a set of roof bars a few weeks ago to mine no problem at all,
There was a allen key with a torqe gauge in the fitting toll's that i used to tighten it all up
i just didn't do them murder tight.

sorted now!
cant get it charged until tomorrow but found one of those refill cans you see at halfords in the shed.
anyway i gave it a go was just enough in there and it clicked on
Wont run it until i get it on a machine and oiled up
but atleast its working now!!

fuse 19? is ok...are there any relays that need checking????
will get it gassed but was hoping i could check it out first.

Ok highline vr6 has air con.....the cars had a knock on the o/s corner in the past and has damaged a few air con parts.
the canister has been changed along with the pump....no gas yet but the clutch does not engaged when you push the button?
Does it need gasing before it will work?
It there anything else about these systems we should now about??
If it don't work soon my brothers gonna break the car!

Really need to catch the vw bug again as iv been so busy with everything else in life ie kids new house and a new job.
Iv got my name down for the sunday but can i also bring a friend with his vr and park it up on the stand?

Jonny-boy what did sparkz unplug? was it the factory fitted one or a after market one?

yeah its one belt but you can get 2 sizes, one with air con is longer and one without air con is shorter. where ever you get a new one from they should ask you if you you have air con or not.

years and years ago i had a mk2 16v with was a little beast, took it some random car show down weston super mare were there was RR setup.
Put my car on and came out with 100.1 bhp!
not 3 weeks before it was lapping the ring in just over 10mins.
Kicked up a fuss and got my money back!!!
