  1. haha, no worries mate, I am not comparing my old williams to a porsche, of course not. What the car was though, which is why I mentioned porsche is FOCUSED! the reason porsche have been so successfull from nearly going bust in 1994 to now looking to take over VW group is that all their cars (bar the cayenne and boxster) are focused, and i think the clio williams was the ultiamte focused front wheel drive small car (and the real enthusiats would agree with this, + the integra type r and the corrado vr6 both of which are much better performance cars than the golf vr6 but i would only ever want
  2. thanks for everyones help, much appreciated...and u were all right, the red and yellow cables needed to be connected to eachother... the headunit now remembers stuff!
  3. Yeah I got my VR6 a year ago and they are sweet cars, but there are a few issues... the fuel consumption is terrible, people try and argue this but if u like putting ur foot down (and who doesnt when the vr6 sounds that gd!) then the consumption is crap for a small hatchback... put it this way my new GTI ed 30 is a lot quicker than my vr6 and does 35mpg even when ragged. Also the steering on the VR6 is poor, very heavy turn ins, especially on tracks, there is a rust issue on pre 97 cars, esp on the 4 jack spots under the car...and most 2nd hand cars have been thrashed so most ppl's BHP claims
  4. mark, unfortnately not, the simota vr6 filters do not fit OBD1 cars!! but they are v.highly rated in the USA scene for OBD2 cars, and I have heard Simota stuff on M3's before and it sounds amazing.... so maybe one day if i ever upgrade toa obd2 black magic highline! got me magnex system fitted though, and that is great...
  5. Rob, I have a set of Original BBS VR6 wheels with tyres which I am replacing with mk 4 GTI bbs cross spoke alloys 2moro, so if ur interested I can post some pics??! if you want them I will do a v. reasonable price esp if you can pick up!

  7. DSG is awesome, got me new GTI edition 30 2 weeks ago which I use to drive up to London every day, works like magic in crap traffic, then on the way home on Kent country roads you can really play with the revs etc.. as for the R36 it will prob be shown at Frankfurt in autumn ,then according to my mate at local dub dealer, it will go on sale in November ish with around 280 - 300 horses at £27k. It will be the new range topper for the revamped golf before the mk6 arrives in mid 2009! I think it will be the real succesor to the g60, should be the best golf yet....!
  8. thats right, i havent tried it with a CD yet but the IPOD plays from the start again, not from the place it last stopped! Once ive left the car and remote locked it , then gone back in the radio had reset itself! so it may be an ignition issue...a permanent power source prob! I have connected both the yellow and red wires so I am stuck when it comes to more wiring! any more ideas very welcome! (i)
  9. nice one mate, i too have a obd1, 3 door but in tornado red so I am envious of ur excellent colour! And its true... welcome indeed to the world of never ending trips to the petrol station!!! but nice car
  10. Over the bank holiday I installed a new Alpine 9870r in my 94' VR6, and all went well, even managed to wire up my direct ipod cable and everything! However....everytime I now start my car my radio station presets are not there... they are not being stored. I know that this is prob due to my power source for the stereo being connected to the ignition, BUT I NEED HELP! What wire have I not connected properly, what should I do??!!! Regards
  11. age: 24 As for insurance im on fully comp with direct line for £750, but my vr6 is a 94 obd1, was quoted £1100 on a 97 vr6 highline!

  13. I have decided to go agaisnt all the advice and wisdom of the overwhelming majority on this site and other members clubs (who hold the BMC CDA as the top induction kit) and go for the Simota kit...the red devil is going in on Tuesday and I will post pics for all to see the Simota results + girlfriend gets back from holiday on wednesday and will never know what I spent the money on..... 8o|
  14. Cheers mate, that is sound advice, it seems like most of the £250 on the SIMOTA stuff goes on the "carbon fibre" look...
  15. My 94 VR6 is going in for its new magnex exhaust on Saturday(17th) and I might get a Simota Carbon Fibre filter fitted too (for £250) anyone recommend these>? They get rave reviews on the USA scene, or what would you spend the £250 on instead?? All opinions very welcome!! Below are pics of the SIMOTA stuff.
  16. cheers mate, i think the RS4 wheels look pretty damm sweet on a VR6...we shall see..decisions decisions...maybe Ultimate Dubs will give me some inspiration 2moro!
  17. Opinions needed on what the "new" style RS4 wheels would look like on a VR6??, (see attachment)! If anyone has any pics of a car already fitted with these it would be greatly appreciated!! Also, anyone running their VR6 on SSW "Mesh" wheels ?? If anyones has pics please send them in! Cheers
  18. Hey People.. Im thinking of getting a Simota Carbon Fibre filter fit fitted to my 94' VR6 but they are relative unkown, my brother has a kit fitted to his M3 CSL and it looks the nuts and sounds amazing but for the VR6 the cost is £250 quid, so... anyone know the results/ quality or any filter system for similar money that they rate??! Check out sanspeed.co.uk in Bexleyheath Kent near me, they are the sole UK distributor of Simota stuff. Also: simota.com
