I've been hunting about for an induction kit lately... I had a K&N on my 16v Mk3 and it worked well. Found the K&N for

How low is it sitting? I had a Mk3 Golf 16v a couple of years ago, -35mm on a Koni kit but this looks lower - coilovers?

Just thought I would ask a simple question, seeing as I am once again going to be hunting for a Mk3 VR6....
I sold a MINT 1995 16v GTI with low miles, full history, miltek, Koni's, Clifford full closure, T&T, blah blah blah for £3700 around 18 months ago. This took a lot of advertising to get a sniff at it.
Last May I sold my 93 VR6, Cobra total closure, Bilsteins, FSH, 119k, Alpine HU etc etc and again, it took a lot of advertising to get interest. It sold for £1600.
How come I had such issues selling genuine cars, but I see cars advertised at the current time at prices well above what I got for mine?
My question is, are people getting what they are advertising cars for, or are they being haggled down/being unable to sell cars?
I see '93 VR6's on autotrader for £3k, with higher miles that what I sold mine for 9 months ago... from my experience, this price is mince (more than double what I got for mine), or is the Aberdeen location a killer when selling a car????
Any ideas/experience appreciated.
Mike

Six - you got a pic of this Stroeve?
-
Gusto - seen your can and it looks sweet as it is! In the pics, perhaps another 5mm lower at front?
Mine is -25mm with a Bilstein Sprintline kit and it looks perfect on the 15" BBS alloys... If it was on 16's/17's that may be a different story, but I plan on keeping the 15's for the ride quality

crazy speeds on here!! I Have driven at 130 once in my life (mk3 16v) and it was FAST! My VR has never been above 100 with me..... Guess I am more of a nippy rather than fast person.... No idea why I want an M3 next now!
-
Had a Mk3 16v and it was quick.... Had a chipped Mk4 GTI 1.8T and it was even quicker! However, both suffered from the same problem - come out of a wet round-a-bout and you will get wheelspin....
VR6 - I assume it is the heavier front end, but I can come out of round-a-bouts not with the foot planted and I don't get any wheelspin. I find the VR6 lovely to drive, and if I was able to afford it I would have a newer/lower mileage one.... I am tidying this one up as I go... only thing that gives away it's age/miles now is the interior.... Other than that, I love it.
And what cars beat it??? Well, I struggled against a Porsche 911 last night... but realistically, I never stood a chance!

there is a silver 5 door that has been on autotrader for weeks now with something silly like 5k GENUINE MILES! Only £8k too!!!
-
phew! thought it was just mine!
I am topping mine up every 3 weeks or so just to keep it at the top of the dip stick
Taking the birds SLK on my tour of England next week now!

Pics never work for me, so here's a link to the pic.... My VR6 and the Mrs' SLK 230K... Love my VR, but the SLK wins hands down for cruising on a sunny day!!

have to say, I am a fan of the M3's! DTM mirrors look alright, but sometimes a bit "dumpy" for the Mk3
Although it has to be a mirror for the car - universal ones often sit at funny angles!
I need a new drivers mirror and am stuck between M3's and a replacement standard one...
-
Bilstein kit fitted - fitting included wheel alignment &camber adjustment
Handling is much better - ride is firmer than the koni kit I had on my last mk3, but it's great out on the open road! Not too bad round town, but you do feel every bump

links now

I voted red, cos I have one and with it all diamond brited on Wednesday, it looks awesome!!
But, if I had the choice a mulberry highline would be out the back of my flat right now!!

If its not the battery it could be the solenoid on the starter sticking! This happened to my Mk2 the other week' date=' kept having to give it a whack, till I got around to changing it.[/quote']
But the car never had problems before, and I had been driving it only an hour before it stopped working!
If the solenoid is sticking, is it expensive to change???
I am going to take the car for a drive in a bit, and will see about a new battery tomorrow as I think it needs one anyway (going by the date printed on it anyway!!)
-
It has started now... went out to try it and it started 1st time! Gave a big puff of smoke out the back of it though... I will take it for a run later to see how it goes...
Strange. Anyone got any ideas as to what may have caused this? Damp?

Just got in my car to go and get a job application... Feken thing won't start! All that happens is I get a click noise when I turn the key - starter motor???

Mathew Clayton, Mk3 Golf VR6 1994, Scorpion Cat-Back Exhaust / Ram-Air Induction Kit... 208.2 BHP
Memo to self: get a Scorpion system and Ram-Air ind kit!

Does the £80 fitting include a proper alignment? If not' date=' this can be another £50 on top minimum.... but I would expect 'fitting' to include the alignment really....[/quote']
Fitting is normally £120 I think.... but I will check that it includes it before I get the kit fitted......
-
well, I just ordered my Bilstein Sprintline kit - should be fitted by the middle of next week. £320 + £80 fitting 8o)
Larkspeed have the Koni equipped (SSK?) kit for £350 for the VR6.
I went with the Bilstein kit as I was getting a good deal on fitting from the place I bought it from. Also, I had the Koni kit on my 16v and wanted to try something different
