yeah, mine are like the recaros you are thinking of, bad pics of mine here:
-
yup 96 vr6 - I'll take a pic this weekend and post to this thread...
-
The lights sort of stick out , and don't seem to fit square on - I'll have to take closer look, maybe take a pic - ta for the reply m8.
-
looks nice, incidentally - how do you take the rear lights out? I think mine are in a bit wonky - just taken a look outside and it's not obvious (to me! %-6) how you take 'em out.
-
ha, it's ok, I'll keep them ta, I quite like 'em.
I'll take some pics sometime. I presume they are the seats you are thinking of... they have "Recaro" on the backrest of the seat in red lettering.
-
[blockquote] theres also proper cloth recaros in mkIII too...but very rare (i know, i want a set) [/blockquote]
didn't know that, mine are cloth recaros - nice and comfy.

I get about 27 mpg on the motorway (70-80 mph), pretty crap huh? I suspect something is going wrong somewhere - but she isn't throwing any faults.
-
[blockquote]Most of all just take it nice and slow and don't get carried away in the excitement. That might sound a bit silly, but remember it when you look at your first car.[/blockquote]
Good advice - look at a few, take your time - fools rush in. Like me
ah well :@
-
nice, I like it

[blockquote]There are stops on the tailgate that can be adjusted to bring the tailgate lower to the bodywork, try them[/blockquote]
Hmmm, how do you do this? - my tailgate isn't sitting flush. Any help appreciated...

Jees, that is good - would a dodgy MAF affect mpg? 80-90 mph I would be lucky to get 24mpg.
-
Slight differences in the engine I think. Anyways, yours wil be OBD2.
OBD2 from 95 (or was it 96? )

Duh! I'm a big thicko here, but is the MAF on the left hand side of this pic, halfway down?
cheers

Got a very similar prob - have you tried putting it on a diagnostic (vag-com)? - Incidentally my problems only started happening when an ABS sensor was replaced - which is reporting faulty again!
My local VW specialist said the ABS cutting in everytime I brake (under 15 mph for some reason), *may* be the ABS unit (but does not throw a fault up for this!?) and he knows an auto-electrician that may be able to confirm this, and either fix or replace if necessary.
I do sympathise with you though, mine has been a nightmare too!
I'll keep you posted as VW are looking at it next week.
-
yeah, that's annoying - at least you have got some now FOC & fitted. My local stealership is awful, and often make mistakes - but I keep going back as they are always do stuff FOC or discounted to make up for their last botch job!
If you are ever dissatisfied with your local dealership write a polite (but stinging ! ) letter to the dealership principal - that usually gets a favourable response! 8o)

my previous golf, 150 bhp 1.8T, was far far more economical than my curent VR did a 100 mile trip this week and got 27 mpg, when doing it in the 1.8T I was getting 35 mpg. Ah well, like most people on here say "Nobody buys a VR for fuel economy" !
-
big thanks to tommy & madmonkee for the quick responses, excellent work !
-
Hey friendly VR folks,
Noticed this hanging down from the front of the car the other day
Close up:
Any ideas as to what it could be - problems on the car at the moment include ABS coming on *everytime* the car goes below 15 mph and a small coolant leak - could it be anything to do with those ??? Or maybe the outside temp guage ?
I'm puzzled, had a look around and it's nothing obvious. %-6
All replies gratefully recevied!
Cheers

My car always "ABS-es" when below 15 mph ! I need to get it sorted but for now I've just disconnected it (under the rear seats). I suspect the VW stealership buggered something up when fitting a new sensor - I should have taken it back by now ! ~
Good luck with your problem though Andy, keep us updated.

*fingers crossed* - is ABS not working a failure though ? ?!
-
74k, no probs yet - engine is sweet, pity about my rust patches and ABS though !
