guppers 0 Posted July 14, 2006 Report Share Posted July 14, 2006 hi there all. i am looking at a set of tt competition rims on fleabay and was wondering whether they will go on my vr without any mods. i understand that i must use 205 40 17 tyres but i plan to lower the car 35 to 40mm. will the arches rub or should i get away with not rolling them. cheers guys. I ground my arches back a bit with angle grinder (didn't take much) and thoroughly painted with underseal as they were shredding tyres with any weight in the back.Rolling is the preferred option Link to post Share on other sites
spindat45 0 Posted July 18, 2006 Report Share Posted July 18, 2006 At standard ride height you won't have ANY rubbing problems! :-d I have lowered mine by about 40 mm on TT Comps but I do not have a very stiff ride so there is more suspension travel when going over speed bumps than some coilover set ups. They didn't rub at first but after settling and with a some weight in the back they did rub. Not a nice sound when you've just fitted new tyres. :-( Have them all rolled and maybe pulled slightly on the rears to be on the safe side. Also means that if you ever go for bigger rims or ones with a different offset you won't have any probs. A good bodyshop should advise that they may need spraying as the paint can crack during rolling.Kevin Link to post Share on other sites
