vr6Bass 0
hi i'm new to the site, i have 93 vr6 and recently on long journeys from say london to birmingham my car has started stalling on the motorway, it'll probaly do it 2-3 times there and the same on the way back, when it does it, the engine will cut out for about 3-5 seconds then come back to life like nothing happened, all the electrics are still on and working and if you press the gas while its stalled you'll here an induction sound but thats it, i've also noticed that if i keep my speed above 80mph it doesnt do it, and i think the cars feels a bit slower, any help would be gratefully appreciated, THANKS
matth76 1
Hi mate. If you live in London and can get to Stoke just south of Birmingham (bout an hour from London up the M40 or M1) visit Stealth Racing. They are a very good VR6 specialist and should be able to hook your car up to vag com to check for any sensor faults. Or if you're in the south of London visit The Phirm who will do the same. It could be an alternator fault. Good luck mate sorting it out. Let us know how you get on.
vr6Bass 0
hi matt, thanks for the reply its definatly not the alternator, i was hoping it was gonna be something small, because about 6 months ago the car started stalling regurly until it stop starting, i traced that back to the petrol pump relay, changed it and everything was fine, if worse comes to worse i'll take it to stealth, whats there prices like? stockers 1
i think firstly get in on vag-com to see if any sensors are failing.but you could, in the meanwhile, turn the ignition on for about 15 secs but not the engine, turn off then start as usual which will reset the ecu and see if this makes any difference, its just more information you can give to the guys you eventually take it to.
