Hi all,

brilliant forum, been using forum for a long time now and it has helped me out endless times, but this is the my first ever post.

Last march i was driving home from shopping in my 93 golf vr6 when i spotted a pot hole in the road about the size of a baking tray, but it was to late for me to take avoiding action.........bang pop bang !

When i stopped got out and saw that i had to flat tyres i was seriously pissed off the fronts were only 3 weeks old, i ran up the road and stood in pot hole which was about the size of a pint class deep.

there was no point in hanging around or changing to spare wheel i needed to get home and fetch my camera , I drove the car home with to flat tyres only 3 miles to get her home,

The next morning i surveyed the damage to the vr6, took wheels off and the front left had a vey big dent in it on the inside of alloy done a quick inspection of suspension and all seemed ok , the rear alloy was ok just flat tyre.

I put new tyre on bcak and managed to get a 16inch steel wheel to fit on front so 1 steel wheel and 2 new tyres on i keep my fingers crossed that car will drive ok nad she did

A couple of days later i noticed that she was makin some scraping and knocking noises from the corner that hit pot hole as the week wore on it got worse and worse, the mot was due so i thought i put her in and see what happens and she passes i tell the inspector before the test what has happened and he cuold not find anything bent or hanging off i am now at a loss as to whats wrong she still drive ok but yuo get these noises all the now and it makes more noise when you turn right it quitens down in straight line and you can hardly here it when going left

This is how i left her parked in my garage nearly for a year, until my postman noticed it in the garage 1 morning and asked me about it he said what a waste of a car , this motivated me to get her up an running again so i charged up battery overnight, next morning she fired up first time after nearly a year i took her out for a drive and it felt so good to hear the sound of the vr6 after driving my 330i bimmer i really need to good her back to her glory days the noise didnt seem as loud as before the knocking and scraping is still there and i noticed the front left corner bumping up and down as well .

could someone please advise me on what this could be as it passed mot like it so i hope it cant be that bad, when i took wheel off i noticed it has koni suspension maybe a bent wisbone or strut bearing or cv joint , how can i tell i am hoping someone can help or send me in the right direction fo where i could get it repaired i live in S.E England Kent

PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME

Two words mate... The Phirm. They are not far from you in Surrey and are (in my opinion) the best in the south of england for VR's. They will diagnose and fix your problem and get it back to new mate. Very good prices too... far cheaper than main dealers and far far better experienced too. To me it sounds like something has been damaged with the suspension. Without seeing it it could be anything. If you do visit The Phirm tell em Matt recommended them! :) Seriously though they very good. Just got new suspension fitted by them yesterday and they really took their time to get everything spot on.

Good luck fixing it. Let us know how you get on and what it turns out to be.
