squirreleater 0
Hi, i'm doing my first service on the VR since i bought it recently. Only a simple service, fluids, filters ect.Could you, the fonts of all knowledge to do with Vr's advise me the best stuff to use please?Oil? plugs? Filters?Genuine or pattern? that sort of thing. It's a high miler if that makes any difference( 133,000 and counting!)Runs like a good'en having had VW service history so far, but i'm a tight git that is quite happy to work on engines, so i prefer to do my own work. Many thanks in advance.stu. matth76 1
Hi mate. Not sure on the plugs and filters (I'm sure someone else will help with this) but I know the oil should ideally be semi synthetic "Synta Silver 10w40" which will be a silver bottle - about £16 for 5 litres. (which can be purchased from a company called GSF or any VW dealer) ...I've got the stuff in the shed... I'll check it tomorrow to confirm.133k is nothing on a VR as long as it's been serviced regularly and looked after. I'm sure a few on here have over 200k on them and still run strong.CheersMatt

matth76 1
Genuine VAG/VW parts are normally very good.
craggsy 91
Plugs are NGK BKRE5U for early cars or NGK BKRE5UP for later cars
