matth76 1
HiWho here has polybushes on the front wishbone... is this a good mod? I know cornering is supposed to be slightly better but is it "noticably" better and does it increase vibration through the steering wheel to a large extent?CheersMatt
fabio_vr6 0
not much vibration tbh but the best mod you can do to a mk3 golf!!!!
matth76 1
Thanks. Does it make a big difference then if just the front wishbone ones are done? In what way has it improved the handling?
fabio_vr6 0
it makes the whole front end feel tighter really, makes a difference to the feel under braking and also cornering and general motorway driving feels more solid too
ALean Mofo 0
HiJust got mine done yesterday! Obviously gonna need more time but so far totally agree with Fabio, feeling so much better controlled in general, and the difference when cornering is incredible I've also just had the engine and gearbox mounts changed for uprated items as well, so i am getting a bit of vibration, but i'm told that it should be only temporary
matth76 1
Cheers guys. I've also got uprated engine mounts front and gearbox and have noticed a slight bit of extra vibration when reversing or when at idle but nothing that noticably and I'm willing to put up with very very slight vibrations like this with the knowledge that my engine is much more stable.Be interested to know how the driving characteristics have changed. Some people seem to say they make a good improvement like you guys but others say it makes the car twitch and unpredictable... is this really the case? I find the car unpredictable as standard lol... so soft and mushy... the one thing that lets the vr6 down is the steering and handling... do the front wishbone polybushes improve the steering characterists then? Does it induce more oversteer? I'm sure vdubgirl on here mentioned in a past post that she didn't much like them. Any other comments welcome... cheers, Matt
Seademon 0
Picked my car up today from The Phirm where I had the poly bushes done front & rear - car feels much better, like driving a new car almost! Everything feels much more positive & tight. I much prefer it to how it was - I've also got Bilstein coilovers, Eibach anti roll bars and an Eibach strut brace fitted so my car should handle well now! Still a nice ride & not too crashy or rough.
matth76 1
Cheers mate... so no noticable vibrations though the steering wheel since fitting the polys? Is it a bad idea just to fit front wishbone ones or should rear ones be done too? Did you have the wishbone ones done or the antiroll bar bushes (as I think they do several different types... plus they do a harder sort with stainless steel inserts and ones without ...I think)? matth76 1
Will fitting polybushes to the front wish bone improve the "communication" from the steering to the driver? I feel as standard the steering is a bit "vague" and mushy!
Seademon 0
Yep definately gives the steering a more positive feel - makes it more sensitive. Theres no vibrations anywhere that I've noticed & I've done about 300 miles in the car now with them on - theres a lot less under steer now too. I'd definatley recommend them. I've had the front and back done - might aswell do the same. I had the wishbones done and the rear beam bushes. Arb's already poly bushes on.
badboyV6 4
nice Mark :-D will hopefully get an even faster lap time around the ring this year then chief ;-) :-D
Seademon 0
Yep! I dont want to get over confident though with it - it does handle much better now though so lap times should come down a few secs I might be going to the ring over the easter bank holiday for a chilled out weekend so will probably do a couple of laps then, going to Magny Cour in June - got use of the who F1 track for the day thats gonna be amazing & then back to the ring in Sept! 8)
