KW (non-coilover) suspension kit - anyone here got one?

Recommended Posts

Hi

As title says, does anyone have a KW (non-coilover) suspension kit on their golf vr6. Reviews and comments welcome :) How is the quality, ride / handling/ control in tight corners at speed?

They use twin tube gas shocks/dampers which seem good, and should be more durable than oil based dampers... is this true?

Are KW a good quality make, on a similar par with Koni and H&R etc?

Cheers

Matt

:D Yeah I just had a look down the forum page and it does seem I've posted a fair number of posts about suspension! A bit too much research into the matter probably lol I think I'm on my way to getting one soon though. I've read, searched and really looked into all the options for what I want and the KW kit seems very good quality and one of the best around along with Koni, H&R and the likes.. and uses gas shocks which is a bonus.

I think there are probably four main brands for suspension here in Germany,

KW

H&R

Eibach

Koni

I think with any one of them you can't really go wrong! To some degree there is FK but for some reason they are looked upon as a poor mans alterntive as generally the quality of the FK stuff is not so good! I think with the above ones mentioned you can't really go wrong! ;):)

Matt

Thanks for your replies guys. I heard Sachs don't make their dampers or suspension kits anymore... weren't they taken over by another company?

Looks like I'll be going for the KW -40mm Cup Kit or the H&R -60/-40mm Cup Kit. Decisions decisions! I'm erring for the KW because it has less of a drop although I've seen pics of cars in the vwvortex forum with people who have the H&R 60/40 drop and it looks perfect... but I'd be worried about speed bumps and oil pan scrapes with a drop of 60mm at the front.

I'll let you know how I get on! :)
