Robster 0
Has the light come on at all (and stayed on).My ABS system has been going mental as of late in a very random fashion and i've traced it back to the drivers front sensor wire. The retaining clip has snapped off the strut and its been rubbing on the insode of the wheel, wearing through the outer sheathing... I'm guessing its either shorting across the twin core or its breaking the connection now and then.Either way its behaving very odd. It was trying to kick in whilst I was driving the other day with no brake applied at all. Then it got bored and disabled itself and put the light on on the dash.Has the light been on at all?If so i'd check similar to mine.......as if i've just written all that!!! jezmoz 0
no the light isn't on??? as far as i'm aware it kicked in cause the brakes actually failed!! i've phoned my garage and they also reckon it couild be shit on a sensor?? It's going in for a check up tomorrow , don't fancy risking it !
matth76 1
My abs comes on when I least expect it sometimes - hardly braking hard at all and then suddenly it feels as though a spike is prodding through the brake pedal. When I first got the car and this happened I though I'd driven over something! Although must be scary if the brakes themselves aren't working before the abs kicks in. Has your cylinder slave been faulty long term as that can lead to brake failure. Needs checking what ever the case.

vdubgirl 3
I had this problem with My VR6 Change your calipers that will solve it Its just a sticky caliper which fools the ABS into thinking the wheels locked up hence why it cuts in. My car only use to do those symptoms when I breaked lightly. I also found it was worse when i didnt drive my car for a long period of time. If i left it for a week maybe and then went to stop at the end of the drive the abs would cut in then. I changed my front calipers and its been fine since
