vr6matt 0
Hey everyone, I am in yet another situation where i dont know what to do with cars. I love my VR to bits and have been saving real hard so I can get a S3 or RS2 in mid 2006. But i keep getting tempted by all these cool cheap hatchbacks i see like mk2 gti's and renault 5 gt turbos 8) Do I go out and buy a old skool hatch for running around in and save my VR for best and weekends only... or keep saving and eventually get the ultimate RS2 or chipped S3? Only downside is that I would obviosuly have to sell the VR to get one of these !sad Advice Appreciated Matt
silverline 0
a decent low mileage RS2 is hard to come by but if i found i would sell everthing i had to own 1, including the VR! R5 turbos are great fun but headgskets are a nightmare and they have cooling problems-and often die when sitting in traffic because of it!! i used to have a R11 turbo, they share the same engine and that was often going wrong. bags of laughter when running right tho! vr6matt 0
Hey mate, cheers for the advice, yea, i have heard about R5's relaibility problems! Have seen some really nice euro style mk2 gti's about and keep getting tempted by them, but I think am just being impatient and it will be worth waiting for an RS2 in the end! apd 0
s/c,uprate brakes and suspensionon your vr,you will not be disappointed?
silverline 0
if a decent RS2 came up i would say have it, definately.i like the mk2 gti, theyre fun and forgiving when driven hard but i wouldnt sacrifice the vr for 1. nor an R5. maybe as well as the vr but never instead of. aad 0
if the vr6 is healthy stick with the car and put a s/c on like apd said. 3.500 pounds you could get thatcar flying i,m sure u can get a s/c for around 2.800 poundsthen u would leave an r32 s3 standing and a very nicenoise... !lol
TVR6 0
Alot less than
vr6matt 0
If i was to buy and R5 or GTI it would defo have to be in addition to the VR! As for supercharging i hear nick saran racing are good and prices are around 2k i believe... I have been considering it, but suppose it would mean uprating the gearbox etc etc, which could be costly in the long run. I will do some research!Cheers everyone!
silverline 0
im an audi fan thru and thru so would say definately an RS2. but if youre waiting for 1 to come up than you maybe a long time waiting, theres only a hand full in the uk.plus, could you sacrifice a hothatch for an estate?!and a charged vr wouldnt leave an RS2 standing, vice versa! TVR6 0
Have a chat with Nik Saran, Stealth Reacing and Ultimate Tune. All would agree that up to 280/300bhp no internal mods or gearbox replacement are required on a healthy engine. Anything above that figure or on an unhealthy engine/gearbox, then yes, work might well be needed.
